A new release,
AGO BY SUZANNE SIEBERT A song years in the making.
Anya, my twin sister who passed away from cancer, didn’t have anyone from my mother’s family, including our mother, attend funeral.
Anya asked me to kick her godmother out if she dared turn up. Fortunately, I didn’t have to.
This song came out due to very personal circumstances, so foreign and confusing that I had to release it from myself, from Anya, and to finally say, “You were never there.”
My aunt walked right past memepure chance, with no sorry, no goodbye, and clearly not interested in either Anya or I. It’s finally given me the courage and closure to commit to getting this song released.
It took so long because I wasn’t really ready to accept that they weren’t family anymore from the maternal side of my family, to me anymore, either.
