I recently finished a song called UPSIDE DOWN. …. I’ve had a few hurdles in the last 2 years with health stuff and I’ve always kept a journal. When I went back to read it, I found a line which really made sense to me, what I was experiencing now. “You’ve turned everything around, turned everything UPSIDE DOWN”… without question and without choice, my body was going through its auto immune disease - and it’s cruel!
It is a disease that has bad cells attack your good cells, and your nervous system- depending on your diagnosis.
For me, I found out when a few years ago. I woke up and couldn’t feel my legs, and things went downhill from there. When it got to NYE I didn’t want to miss the party. The next day I was walking across the street and my legs decided to stop working. My best friend was my lifeline, I was in hospital for 2 weeks, diagnosed initially with Guilliane Barre Syndrome, and fell into 2 years of rehab when I had a flare up, which could be 1 week or 8, for my muscles to become stronger, to be able to MOVE how to manage swallowing because that even became a problem.
My song UPSIDE DOWN, is about how things changed without warning, and how I have chosen to take writing lyrics and music full time now. Often it’s 6 hours a day. I love what I do, and when something comes together to record and produce, I know that it all comes from a real experience and a real place of emotion.
Sometimes I hear a song of mine and because I know the whole journey to get to that point of ‘ability’ again it is a very emotional journey. Other times I hear a song and I’m like with MOVES, and feel victorious, I beat you! here’s a link for that, and a link for UPSIDE DOWN, By Suzanne Siebert (also written from this condition)
