What was your reason to start as musician

@Indie artists we would like to know from all of you what was your reason to start as a musician?
What was your end goal ?

I just wanted to have a creative outlet from the jump. I aspired to create something that others would connect with but I have always done it for me. My end goal when I was young was to get paid, for my art. As I have gotten OLDER my focus has shifted to being happy having the creative outlet. I still love to pick up my guitar or my sticks and get in an amazing cardio session taking out some frustration on my 15 pc. drum set. And don’t get me wrong, I’d still love to get paid for it… but reality and responsibilities are always harsher than in our dreams.

Personal truthful answer. It was a girl. I was 15. We were on a school trip and there was a new teacher who played guitar and wrote songs. A rumour had it that she fancied him, as well as fancying another friend of mine who also played guitar. I figured if I learned to play guitar she might fancy me too. Teenage logic! Never snuggled her as much as I wanted but lots of other opportunities came from making music. There, said it. Haha!

I’ve always written a journal, with poetry and prose. I felt that after being published 5 yeraas running back to back, I wanted to FEEL what I was writing. I was a dancer, and felt the need for flow and the immersion by closing your eyes and being completely exposed to what you are hearing. How much it moves you, in different directions. I approached my publisher and told him Im only writing lyric s now….he has been extremley supportive through and through. He asked me for 1 line, I said “YOU ARE LIKE LOVE ON A TEARDROP” and said I have 2!!! SO “WITH EYES CLOSED OR OPENWIDE” was meant to go somewhere else initially. He says he has still been blown away withe the lyrics since then, and I just keep going
