For us it was the radio. Yes, good old analogue airwaves, back in the 1990s. We had a fair bit of love in Spain, Poland, Germany and Italy at the time and our song Medicines from the Rage in Heaven album went viral. Especially in Spain.
Nothing back home in the uk though, they didn’t like us there. We were told that our intros were “too long” and we sang about subjects other than romance/procreation, which we were told by Polydor that nobody could understand. Due to having brains and our own ideas, we were labelled ‘difficult’ rather than ‘compliant’. Journalists would complain that they never knew what box to put us in because we went through so many genres.
Being terminally weird, fame didn’t last long but we certainly sold a few records off the back of some radio play. More recently it was Twitter, but now that’s gone down the toilet. We’re just trying to make a bit of music these days, when life allows it.
