admin The old Atom Collector website had some great ideas and helped many new fans discover new music. Then the site slid off at a weird and rather silly tangent, into some kind of a crypto fantasy game where you could earn crypto by pretending to be a musician or a band (like …? wtf?), and most people left.
Something like a streaming service would be a great idea, although a lot of work and some investment to set up. Only for independent artists and labels, no music from the majors at all. A subscription service, sell it as for people who want to support ‘real’ music with their streams rather than the majors and their plan to replace us all with cheap AI algorithms and the mass media screaming “We know what’s good and we play it until you like it!” with their restrictive playlists. Make it non-profit - take out the monthly running costs and then split the remaining revenue by streams among the artists.
It sounds utopian but perhaps it could work. Nobody else is doing anything like that right now.
