Reference tracks. Do you use them? Which ones do you use?
There are two (amazing!) main studio engineers at Wud Records, our label, and neither of them use reference tracks at all. They both have a clear idea of what they are aiming for when mixing or mastering and have enough experience to achieve what they, and we, want.
A couple of other engineers used reference tracks with us in the past, such as Follow the Light from Eloy’s Metromania album and Comfortably Numb from The Wall by Pink Floyd. among others.
